  • Overview

    Oversees a variety of projects involving mechanical components for natural gas, hydrocarbon and industrial projects. Primary responsibilities include producing two-dimensional and three-dimensional construction drawings including plans, sections, elevations, details, bills of material and isometrics from models and sketches under the direction of an engineer.

     

    This position assists the engineering discipline and leads and directs designers and drafters as needed to keep projects on task and on schedule. Coordinate with other managers, engineers and designers in completing project assignments.

    Responsibilities

    • Coordinate and assign work to mechanical designers and drafters to ensure on time project completion and accuracy.
    • Provide detailed mechanical design of complex facilities.
    • Perform checking of complex facility drawings. Work with lead engineer and responsible designer in correcting drawings. Apply client layering and CAD standards.
    • Support project team in maintaining budget, schedule and adherence to the agreed to scope of work.
    • Initiate design/drafting package checks and reviewing other disciplines check.
    • Perform vendor data review of equipment and components.
    • Support project team in maintaining a needs list of design criteria to support completion of their assigned area.

     

    • Assist in the preparation and review of estimates for proposed projects.
    • Review and approve project specific CADWorx Project and Configuration files.
    • Ensure company design philosophy is adhered too.
    • Provide input on mechanical designer and drafter performance reviews.
    • Mentor for drafters and designers.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    An Associate’s degree in a design related field required, Bachelor’s degree a plus. Requires thorough knowledge of AutoCAD and a working knowledge of and experience with standard drawings practices, basic engineering drafting principles, and preparation of drawings, using AutoCAD.

    CADWorx, Plant 3D, Microstation, Navisworks, Bluebeam experience a plus. Proficient use of Acrobat and Microsoft Office Suite required. Good communication and analytical skills are also required.
