Overview

Bi-Con Engineering is an engineering firm within the Natural Gas Industries, providing engineering and design solutions. Currently, we are seeking interns for the summer of 2020 to be based at our main office in Cambridge, Ohio. Our internship program will provide students with valuable insight and experience that will prepare them for their future.

Responsibilities

  • Shadow a project engineer or mentor to gain experience with best design practices, report summaries, customer relations, etc.
  • 3-D Model electrical systems and equipment using the latest CADWorx Plant modeling software.
  • Produce drawing physicals and schematics, with full annotation and tagging. Physicals include plan and section/detail drawings, and schematics include motor schematics, one-line diagrams, and loop drawings.
  • Perform electrical calculations including conductor sizing, conduit fill, voltage drop, etc.
  • Prepare equipment specifications and commodity bill of materials.
  • Perform bid evaluations of vendor quotations.
  • Provide general project support including document management and compiling reference material.
  • Shadow a project engineer or mentor to gain experience with best design practices, report summaries, customer relations, etc.
  • Visit job sites either during construction or post-construction.
  • Communicate/coordinate with engineers across multiple disciplines (Mechanical, Civil, & Electrical)
  • Sit in on customer teleconferences discussing job planning, design details, procurement, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be pursuing an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering (ABET-accredited) and completed sophomore year of program.
  • Excellent communication skills; verbal, written and interpersonal.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Work will involve being in an office setting with occasional day trips to field sites.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings.
  • Knowledge of hard copy and electronic file databases.
